National PROPEL, along with Solving for Science, is thrilled to announce the two awards of $10,000 each to two postbaccalaureate programs in support of postbaccalaureate education nationwide:

  • PROPEL NW – University of Washington/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
    • Funds will be used for recruitment and Matchmaking Event support, PROPEL NW website development, a welcome luncheon, local symposium, monthly events co-hosted with Fred Hutch, and scholar travel funds to support conference attendance.  The above efforts will be expanded by matching funds from the University of Washington’s Institute for Translational Immunology and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
  • ICARE – University of Iowa
    • Funds will be used to partner with a CIMER-trained facilitator, Darren Hoffmann, PhD, an Associate Professor on the UI campus, to facilitate a one-day equivalent faculty workshop and several shorter programs for near-peer mentors.  Matching funds from the University of Iowa’s Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center will be used to identify and train faculty from this initial cohort in CIMER facilitator training.

We plan to award more programs soon after our first deadline has expired and hope to reopen for calls for proposals this summer.
